The building, which is used only by the Goethe-Institut Dhaka, is to be retrofitted and renovated in accordance with EC8-guidelines for earthquake resistance, fire protection and building security. In addition, the auditorium and the floors above it
are to be demolished and rebuilt. Furthermore, an increase of the existing Building by 1 storey with roof terrace and roof cafe and the reorganization of the spatial distribution in the existing building as well as the outside areas is to be planned.

The planning of the project is so far advanced that the scope of services of the acoustics office for the project can be determined. The general planner submits an offer from the acoustician Prof. Matthias Middelkamp based on the service description of the client, the Goethe-Institut e.V.. Prof. Middelkamp is to take on the additional service of acoustic planning and consulting as well as the planning of the media technology equipment of the GI Dhaka as suplaner of the general planner.
The necessary additional service and the associated conclusion of an addendum to the general planning contract falls under the unforeseeability of Section 132 (2) No. 3 GWB, as additional supplies, works or services have become necessary which were not provided for in the original award documents. The change of contractor would mean that the media technology and acoustics planning service would not fall under the coordination of the general planner, which could lead to significant impediments in the project process, which in turn would lead to delays and additional costs. In addition, the warranty of the agreed additional service would not fall under the supervision of the warranty phase of the general planner, which would result in renewed effort and costs.
