81298793-Trainings in new and Innovative Solar Applications
The Govt of India has set for itself an ambitious target of achieving carbon neutrality by the year 2070. As per estimates, India will need 1689 GW of solar capacity by 2050 & 5630 GW of solar capacity by 2070 to achieve this target. However there lie 2 major challenges in achieving these targets.
- Presently, the major contributors for solar PV installation across India are ground mounted and rooftop projects. These conventional methods of solar PV adoption rely heavily on land utilization and can only address the target potential partially.
- Additionally, land use for energy generation is increasingly facing competition from other social economic usages directly affecting natural habitat and ecosystems. There is also a growing concern with regards to the scarcity of utilizable land, allocated for solar projects.
This necessitates the need for exploring new innovative technology solutions for solar PV projects in India. Thus, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) in cooperation with GIZ is supporting the promotion of land-neutral and dual use New & Innovative Solar Applications (NISA) across India. With MNRE, GIZ has shortlisted the following 6 New and Innovative Solar PV applications for further proliferation -
1. Agri PV
2. Floating PV
3. Canal Top PV
4. Building Integrated PV - BIPV
5. Urban PV
6. Road/Rail PV
Apart from these seven applications, other technologies like PVT, vertical solar installations, solar tracking structures, green hydrogen, green mobility etc. are also developing and emerging as promising technologies for the future. There is a need for capacity building of various stakeholders including inistries, DISCOMs, nodal agencies, research institutes, govt. departments etc., and the solar sector for accelerated adoption of NISA.
Under the ambit of Indo-German Energy Programme, GIZ, on behalf of BMZ is supporting MNRE with a new project titled "New & Innovative Solar Areas (INSolar)". Under this project, GIZ is exploring potential of NISA across India, along with focus on policy support, R&D collaborations, solar atlas, support to solar cities and creating marketing instruments for further adoption of NISA.
Therefore, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is seeking a contractor to implement the project "Trainings in new and Innovative Solar applications" which is part of the project "New & Innovative Solar Areas (INSolar)". In this context, GIZ is seeking to commission a contractor to provide a range of specialised capacity building services expertise with focus on New Innovative Solar Areas relating to four packages of services: (1) Capacity building workshops, (2) National level study tours, (3) Conferences and Panel Discussions, and (4) E-Learning platform development.
