Abschnitt II: Gegenstand
preliminary market consultation for archaeological services for SuedLink
1) Through issuing an information pack and holding an Information Day, share with the market TransnetBW GmbH’s (operating under “TransnetBW SuedLink” and hereafter “TSL”) preferred approach to the procurement of archaeological services in advance of the construction of the southern section of the SuedLink project
2) Through completion of a questionnaire and participation in the Information Day provide market participants and other interested parties with an opportunity to inform the finalisation of TSL’s approach to the procurement of these services. Any interested parties wishing to respond to this market consultation, should download a copy of the information pack and questionnaire via the links provided in Section 1.1. The deadline for the return of the completed questionnaire is 24 June 2022. It is considered that provision of the archaeological services would be best met through the use of a framework agreement. It is envisaged that required services will be divided into 5 lots.
Bundesland Niedersachsen Archaeological Services
TSL seek to procure archaeological trial trenching, archaeological excavation, and post-excavation assessment, analysis, reporting, publication and archiving services as part of the SuedLink project.
Lot 1 is for the provision of these services in Bundesland Niedersachsen (the federal German state of Lower Saxony). The length of the TSL section of the project in Niedersachsen is approximately 95km.
The services are to be finalised, but may comprise:
• Excavation of archaeological trial trenches by machine (or by hand where specified) and the subsequent evaluation through hand excavation of features, survey, finds recovery, documentary and photographic recording, (soil) sampling, and any other services (e.g. artefact restoration) in line with the requirements of the regulatory authority;
• Archaeological excavation and subsequent hand excavation of features, survey, finds recovery, documentary and photographic recording, (soil) sampling, and any other services (e.g. artefact restoration) in line with the requirements of the regulatory authority;
• undertaking of post–excavation processing, assessment, analysis, reporting and potentially publication of the results;
• Liaison with the relevant departments of the Niedersächsisches Landesamt für Denkmalpflege (NLD) (the regulating heritage authority for Lower Saxony);
• Preparing and submitting an ordered archaeological archive of all investigations complying with the NLD standards and regulations including the submission of finds to the regulatory authority in Lower Saxony;
• Obtaining permissions prior to any work being undertaken where required;
• Preparation and submission of progress reports (frequency to be agreed with TSL);
• Management of and co-ordination with any other specialist sub-contractors appointed by the Supplier, as required;
• Preparation of Health and Safety risk assessments and reports for the services, and
• Liaison and compliance with the directions of TSL and their technical advisors.

The services are to be finalised, but may comprise:
• Excavation of archaeological trial trenches by machine (or by hand where specified) and the subsequent evaluation through hand excavation of features, survey, finds recovery, documentary and photographic recording, (soil) sampling, and any other services (e.g. artefact restoration) in line with the requirements of the regulatory authority;
• Archaeological excavation and subsequent hand excavation of features, survey, finds recovery, documentary and photographic recording, (soil) sampling, and any other services (e.g. artefact restoration) in line with the requirements of the regulatory authority;
• Undertaking of post–excavation processing, assessment, analysis, reporting and potentially publication of the results;

• Excavation of archaeological trial trenches by machine (or by hand where specified) and the subsequent evaluation through hand excavation of features, survey, finds recovery, documentary and photographic recording, (soil) sampling, and any other services (e.g. artefact restoration) in line with the requirements of the regulatory authority;
• Archaeological excavation and subsequent hand excavation of features; survey; finds recovery, documentary and photographic recording, (soil) sampling, and any other services (e.g. artefact restoration) in line with the requirements of the regulatory authority;
• Undertaking of post–excavation processing, assessment, analysis, reporting and potentially publication of the results;
• Liaison with the relevant departments of Landesamt für Denkmalpflege im Regierungspräsidium Stuttgart (LAD) (the regulating heritage authority for Baden-Württemberg);

• Obtaining permissions prior to any work being undertaken where required;
